Everything starts small. In 1987, the story of Förderband-Sofort-Dienst (Conveyor Belt Immediate Service) began in Preetz, a suburb of Kiel. Founded as a sole proprietorship by Manfred Lehmann, the craft of vulcanization technology was carried out with three technicians and 1.5 office staff.

From the very first day, the guiding principle of the company was clear: customer production must never come to a halt. This gave rise to the company’s motto, “We keep your productivity moving.” Together with employees—some of whom still hold key roles in the company today—they established a culture where the business was not just the property of one person but functioned successfully thanks to the collective contributions of all involved.

In the early years, a 25 m² space was adapted for practical work. Conveyor belts and materials were stored there, alongside the first tools and aids for splicing and repairing conveyor belts. Administrative tasks, quote generation, and employee meetings all took place in the Lehmann family’s private rooms.

The confidence customers placed in this young company was not misplaced. The practiced customer focus and technical expertise ensured that they would quickly establish themselves in the conveyor technology sector.

By 1995, it was time to build the first workshop to handle the increased order volume. In the following years, the team grew by three employees, some of whom still practice their trade at FSD today.

FSD’s expansion required further structural changes. In 1999, the sole proprietorship became a limited liability company (GmbH), with Manfred and Regine Lehmann acting as managing directors.

In addition to vulcanizing conveyor and transport belts, a second business segment was established: the rental of conveyor systems. This service enables customers to temporarily bridge production bottlenecks and is now a core part of the company’s concept. By 2003, three skilled metalworkers had been hired to ensure that FSD could provide complete overhaul services for all components of conveyor systems.

The next stage of physical expansion took place in 2005, when two commercial workshops were built or repurposed. With around 5,400 m² of space, the company had room to continue growing and accommodate essential resources.

Thanks to positive development, employee commitment, and a full order book, the company underwent a strategic realignment in 2013 and 2014. The business was split into two legal entities: the vulcanization division (FSD Handelsweg GmbH) and today’s certified welding specialist operation (FSD Förderband-Sofort-Dienst GmbH). This focus on specific technical fields has enabled greater expertise to be passed on to customers through close collaboration.

Space requirements grew even further, leading to a relocation of both companies to the Preetz industrial park. The welding specialist operation is now headquartered at Industriestraße 5 in Preetz, housing design, development, and a significantly expanded rental fleet. The vulcanization facility is located on Handelsweg, just a short distance away.

Since 2020, the company’s values and guiding principles have been carried on by Fenja and Fabian Lehmann, who now serve as managing directors at their respective sites. This ongoing success story, shared with customers and employees alike, is paving the way for a successful future in servicing your conveyor systems.
