Roller glue application units for edge banding machines require regular cleaning, service and maintenance. Wood chips, burned glue particles and other contaminants behind the glue roller won't allow an even and thin glue film on the roller. Hence there won't be an ideal glue application to the board. This is valid for EVA hot-melts and even more so for PUR glues.

As long as the glue application unit is still inside the machine the limited accessibility will restrict maintenance success and also result in longer down time. If the application unit is removed the

quick cooling-down will prevent thorough cleaning.
Furthermore the lack of a proper fixing device and a drive motor for the glue roller are other disadvantages.
